TATAR MERCHANTS IN THE RUSSIAN-ASIAN TRADE IN THE NORTH-WEST OF THE KAZAKH STEPPE IN THE LAST QUARTER OF THE XVIII-FIRST HALF OF THE XIX CENTURIES

peaceful expansion played a special role in the Russian-British confrontation for economic influence in the khanates of Central Asia, in which the Tatar merchants, mobilized by the Russian authorities for the development of Russian-Asian trade relations, distinguished themselves. Under the conditions of the protectionism of the Russian government, the Tatar merchants were able to take a leading position among the Russian merchants in two directions of the Russian-Asian caravan trade with Central Asia and traveling-exchange in the Kazakh steppe, becoming a link between manufacturing and the consumer market of Russia and Central Asia, the subsistence economy of nomads.
