METAPHOR IN THE MODERN GERMAN RIGHT-WING POPULIST DISCOURSE

This article discusses the features of the use of metaphors in modern German right-wing populist discourse. The material of the study is the texts of the main right-wing populist organization in Germany – the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. The contexts selected for the article contain metaphors that are used to have a manipulative effect on the audience when building the “friend or foe” opposition against political opponents. In the course of the analysis, a conclusion is made about the specificity of certain types of metaphors for the type of discourse under consideration and their pragmatic features.
