THE SPECIFICS OF TEACHING TECHNICAL STUDENTS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

This article is devoted to specific character of foreign language teaching in technical Universities. It deals with the problems of teaching a foreign language in a non-linguistic University and gives practical advice to methods of teaching. The author in detail describes the main methods of increasing the level of the students' language training. This problem is particularly relevant due to modern trends in education, especially the increase of humanitarian support in technical education. The author analyzes the problem of the lexical selection as an important component in the forming of learning material for the course of foreign language. A necessary condition for the training of competitive specialists is the formation of "autonomy", which contributes to the development of skills to manage and improve independently their own educational and cognitive activity. Iindependent work of students, as well as the necessary organization of the educational process, the selection of text material and specialized literature for training are important elements of the teaching process. Active use of foreign languages in the professional activities of future engineers remains today one of the main objectives.
