USSR STATE SECURITY BODIES AND RELIGIOUS ASSOCIATIONS DURING THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of interaction between the state security bodies of the USSR and religious associations during the Great Patriotic War. Special attention is paid to the reasons for the professional interest of the NKVD-NKGB in the religious environment. The conditions for the formation and structure of the bodies that were authorized to implement a new format of state-church relations are also indicated. The goals of the operational work of the state security organs of the USSR along the line of "churchmen and sectarians" are formalized. The features of conducting undercover and operational work are singled out.
