Lavrova Irina Anatolyevna  (Ph.D (Historical Sc.), Assistant Professor Civil Defence Academy EMERCOM of Russia )

the article is devoted to the creation and development of military symbols of the young Russian socialist state. The relevance of the research topic is due to the fact that as a result of the revolutionary events of 1917, fundamental changes took place in the system of public administration, military symbols and insignia of the tsarist army were abolished. The article focuses on the origins of the creation and development of military symbols of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army (Red Army), its subsequent development based on the ongoing socio-political processes in the country, the construction of the army on new ideological principles.
