VERSE AND SONGS AS A MEANS OF TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

The article deals with the psychological, pedagogical and methodological aspects of the use of authentic poetry and songs in foreign language classes. Regular use of poetry and songs in a foreign language is an effective means of communicative skills formation in foreign language classes. This kind of educational tools helps relieve psychological stress in the classroom and makes language learning more interactive and engaging. Listening to and interpreting poems and songs in a foreign language contributes to the development and improvement of auditory and pronunciation skills of students, expanding their foreign vocabulary and knowledge of the culture of the country of the studied language. With their help grammar skills are improved and consequently the foreign language communicative competence of students is developed.
