TRANSLATION STRATEGY OF CHINESE IDIOMS INTO RUSSIAN: BASED ON «XI JINPING: THE GOVERNANCE OF CHINA»

This article is dedicated to the systematic analysis of the strategy and method of translating metaphors in idioms from «Xi Jinping: The Governance of China» within the framework of cognitive linguistics and the theory of cognitive translation as a theoretical basis. The study reveals that: 1. From a perceptual perspective, when translating Chinese political idioms that express abstract concepts based on concrete imagery, translators need to choose strategies and methods depending on the universality or uniqueness of the imagery. 2. In terms of conveying cultural information, there are three main translation strategies for Chinese political idioms in metaphors: direct translation of the idiom, modifying the idiom in accordance with the context, and adding metaphors that are easier for readers in the target language to understand and accept. 3. In terms of the translator's subjectivity, translating idioms into metaphors involves a combination of passivity and activity on the part of the translator. Passivity is reflected in the constraints imposed by linguistic features and the context of political discourse, while activity is seen in the flexible application of various translation strategies and methods.
