EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES TO INCREASE MOTIVATION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS STUDYING RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

The relevance of this paper is due to the fact that a low level of integrative motivation of foreign students studying Russian will not only prevent them from successfully "joining" the team, but may also generally prevent them from obtaining higher education. Purpose of the paper: to analyse how extracurricular activities can increase the motivation of foreign students studying Russian. The material basis of the study was formed by the works of the following authors: M.Y. Kononova, S.N. Abdullaev, E.N. Anokhina, E.V. Karpets, N.A. Vanyushina, V.G. Sengkei, H. Wu, O.R. Ametova and others. As a result, it is concluded that within the framework of learning Russian by foreign students, motivation should be divided into instrumental and integrative motivation. Integrative motivation, in its turn, allows the student to better assimilate sociocultural aspects of the language context, as a result of which he/she is most effectively embedded in an unfamiliar cultural space. The higher the "cohesion" of the group - the higher the integrative motivation. We have noted the following types of extracurricular activities that are the most relevant for foreign students studying Russian: study excursion, study of a certain historical date, participation in festive events, thematic lessons-concerts.
