PROBLEMS OF CREATING A FUND OF ASSESSMENT TOOLS FOR CHECKING THE DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURE ENGINEERS’ COMPETENCIES

One of the most important indicators of accreditation monitoring of universities is the indicator of students’ completion of tasks of diagnostic work, formed from the fund of assessment tools for the educational program. The purpose of the study is to analyze the problems of developing a fund of assessment tools that allows for a reliable assessment of the development of competencies among university students (using the example of the field of study “Agroengineering”, undergraduate level). The main problems in developing a bank of tasks are associated with the inability to assess the planned competence with assessment materials, the narrow coverage of the subject field of the competence being tested by assessment tools, the inconsistency of questions or tasks with the level of education, the low level of mastery of educational material, a large percentage of similar tasks in one test, and the use of “predictable” answer options etc. To solve these problems, it is necessary to design assessment materials in the form of multifunctional blocks, which should contain tasks for testing the conceptual, figurative and practical components of competence: respectively, test tasks (requiring the use of various types of mental operations), competency-oriented tasks and practical tasks similar to a demonstration exam, which will provide a high-quality, reliable assessment of the development of competencies of future engineers.
