POST-WAR DEVELOPMENT OF THE NORTH OSSETIAN ASSR IN MODERN REGIONAL HISTORIOGRAPHY

The article presents a historiographical review of the latest research by North Ossetian historians considering various aspects of the development of North Ossetia in the first post-war years. The key topics are the following: 1) analysis of the information potential of the archives of North Ossetia; 2) government policy towards the peasantry 3) features of personnel policy; 4) development of science and education; 5) cultural policy; 6) election campaigns; 7) adaptation of front-line soldiers to peaceful life, 8) religious relations. The author analyzes the scientific approaches and methods used by historians in the study of the period of «late Stalinism». It is concluded that, despite the noticeable intensification of research, many aspects of the socio-political development of the North Ossetian ASSR in 1945-1953 remain poorly studied. In this regard, a number of problematic issues are proposed for further study.
