QUR'ANIC METAPHORS: LOST IN TRANSLATING

The paper focuses on the challenges in translating of Qur’anic metaphors and considers metaphorization as the key device employed in Qur’anic verses that reveals the distinctive culture of worldview, and as a way to symbolise value emphasises that define the way of life shared by Muslims. The authors discuss the types of Qur’anic metaphors and common ways of conveying their cultural specificity in translations from Classical Arabic into Russian and English.
