Functional-semantic field of evidentiality and its pragmatic functions in a literary text (based on the text of Uwe Timm's novel "Hot Summer")

This article is devoted to the consideration of the functional-semantic field of evidentiality, its components and the pragmatic functions that they perform in a postmodern German literary text. The material for the study was the novel of the German writer Uwe Timm «Hot Summer». The authors of the article assume that evidentiality in the German language can be expressed not only by grammatical, but also by other means, which implies the expansion of the area of constituents of the functional-semantic field of evidentiality due to such phenomena as, for example, intertextual inclusions, which are one of the types of the citative (quotative evidentiality). Analyzing the functional-semantic field of evidentiality, the authors of the article show how different types of evidentiality affect the perception of a literary text by the recipient, how they enrich it, what additional content they can bring to it.
