A comparative study of "up/down" spatial metaphors in Chinese and Russian: a case study of the scholars

The Scholars, a masterpiece of ancient Chinese satire, has a strong traditional Chinese cultural flavor. This paper explores the mapping of the spatial metaphor of "up/down" to the domains of time, social status and characteristics, as well as the Russian translation, based on the Chinese-Russian bilingual text of The Scholars, with the aim of promoting intercultural communication.
