Classification approach to the study of vocabulary in novella text (on the example of O. Henry’s novella "The count and the wedding guest" in English and Russian)

The purpose of the article is to identify terms, polysyllabic words and words formed with the help of suffixes in novella text. To achieve the goal set in the work, the following tasks have been solved: 1) the terms are highlighted; 2) the calculation and systematization of the results obtained in the table is made; 3) the analysis of the conducted research is given. The following methods were used: 1) component analysis; 2) quantitative calculation; 3) percentage calculation; 4) classification; 5) interpretation; 6) continuous sampling of vocabulary. The scientific novelty is that for the first time a study of the texts of O. Henry’s work “The Count and the Wedding Guest” in two languages is being conducted.
