THE THEORY OF LEXICAL METONYMY IN CHINESE

The article examines the substantive characteristics of the terms metonymy, metonymic meaning and metonymic use in the Russian and Chinese languages. The similarities and differences between “metonymies”, “metonymic words” and “metonymic meanings” are noted.
