EMOTIONALLY COLORED ELEMENTS OF MILITARY VOCABULARY AS MEANS OF CREATING POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE IMAGES OF THE BRITISH ARMED FORCES SERVICEMEN

The purpose of the study is to determine the features of written colloquial speech of bloggers-members of the Great Britain Armed Forces in the system of traditional speech interaction. The article focuses on the essence of the professional communication language in the concept of modern scientists of the second half of the XX and the first two decades of the XXI century in the framework of the study of the linguistic personality of a particular social group as a subject of professional activity. The content of the concepts of “linguistic personality” and “professional linguistic personality” is determined. The main focus is on identifying units of military jargon and military slang in the speech of British military bloggers as a way of expressing the attitude of military personnel to military service. The solution of these tasks was carried out using the following methods: analysis of the theoretical sources for a review of current scientific papers on the research, analysis of dictionary definitions and the English language material, contextual analysis of comment fragments in individual blogs. As a result, positive and negative images of a professional linguistic personality were revealed based on the texts of British military bloggers, in particular, emotionally colored elements of vocabulary (military jargon and military slang). The conducted research allowed us to come to the following conclusions: firstly, the approach to studying the professional linguistic personality of the British Armed Forces representatives lies in its ethnic identity, and secondly, the original feature of the written colloquial speech of British servicemen is its explication using lexical means.
