Main results of studies of remains of 4 Rurikid princes (11-13 c.) by means of three leading at present time paleogenetic methods are presented. Their patrilineal origin from northern Russia or, with smaller probability, central Russia / Western Slavic area, is detected by structure of Y chromosome. Their matrilineal descent from Eastern Europe or, in some cases, from steppe world is demonstrated by structure of mitochondrial DNA. Skin, eyes, and hair colour are reconstructed by help of whole genome sequencing. Conclusion on highly constructive role of paleogenetic data in present-day historical research is drawn basing upon these data, allowing to correct or to complement theses elaborated in its framework.
Keywords:Early Russian history, Rurik kin, paleogenetics, Y chromosome, mitochondrial DNA, whole genome sequencing.
