Siberia’s gubernia and regional statistical committees in the system of state-administrative and scientific establishments of the Russian Empire

The article covers the administrative statistics nascence in the Russian Empire in the context of the historical development of statistical establishments in European countries. A note is made of the scientific workers’ role in the formation of the state statistics management organs. There is the coverage of the process of the creation and of the reformation of gubernia and regional statistical committees in 1830s-1860s. It is being proven that Siberian statistical committees were inextricably connected with the regional administration. There is an investigation of the issue concerning the place of Siberian committees within the system of the state and public scientific establishments. There is a presentation of data that confirm the significance of the statistical committees in the organization of the study of Siberia in XIX – early XX century.
