Genre diversity of the Anglophone media discourse: cognitive and pragmatic characteristics of the Briefs genre

The article provides a consideration of the media genre Briefs, namely, of its basic parameters as well as its cognitive, communicative and pragmatic foundations. In the light of the functional and stylistic approach the Briefs genre is viewed as a hybrid one since it fulfills not only the function of informing, but that of interpreting as well.
