The article discusses the pedagogical discourse of the Russian educator of the 2nd half of the XVIII century N.I. Novikov. The educational attitudes of N.I. Novikov didn't lose their pedagogical significance at the present stage of education. The author highlights the basic concepts of pedagogical discourse based on the analysis of the articles: «Education», «Training», «Morals», «Citizenship», «Russianness», which are the dominants of human education.
