The aim of the article is to address the need to study military-professional identity of a graduate studying in military educational institutions of the The Ministry of Defence of Russian Federation. The concepts of "identity", "professional identity", "military-professional identity of a cadet as a serviceman" are disclosed. In the article we analyze civilian and military specialties of military educational institutions, and present the rating of civilian specialties obtained in military institutions. We concluded that military-professional identity of the cadet as a serviceman should be formed for all cadets of institutions of higher education by a single program and methodology, and the process of development of military-professional identity should correspond to the orientation of the branch of troops, for which the future officers are trained. The directions for further research are formulated.
