On the question of the ambiguity of affixes in inflectional and agglutinative languages (based on the material of Russian, English, Turkish and Azerbaijani languages)

Salmanova Shafa Majid  (PhD student of Azerbaijan University of Languages )

This article is devoted to an interesting and relevant topic for modern linguistics. Despite the fact that there is quite a large critical literature on two voluminous groups of inflectional and agglutinative languages nowadays, the chosen topic favorably differs by a certain novelty of some theoretical positions. As you know, there are practically no major monographic or dissertation works directly devoted to this topic in Azerbaijani linguistics. As for individual articles, despite their abundance, four or more languages of two types were not specifically considered at the same time. In this case, the goal is set: to conduct a comparative analysis of four languages in pairs: Russian and English; Turkish and Azerbaijani. In connection with this goal, the article's architectonics are primarily attracted. Namely , already inside the work itself , they are divided into two parts: first, the affixes of the first pair are analyzed, then the second. This is justified from the point of view that the involuntary mixing of these pairs, firstly, would create a kind of collage in the content itself; secondly, it would impoverish the work by belittling the role of one of the groups. This does not happen in this article, not only because of the chosen structure, but also due to the author's highlighting of the specific features of affixes inherent in each of these lexemes. The article also has some applied significance, because individual affixes play both a word-modifying and word-forming role.

Keywords:Russian language; English language; Turkish language; Azerbaijani language; affixes; ambiguity; class of subjects; typology.
