This article examines the process of second-language acquisition from the point of view of positive psychology. In this context, positive and negative emotions perform different functions. While negative emotions identify, isolate and struggle with external stimuli, rather than develop the abilities of trainees, positive emotions expand people's thinking and vision. The integration of positive and negative emotions requires focusing on the development of positive aspects of language learning, such as pleasure, gratitude and well-being. At the same time, reducing negative emotions such as anger, fear and anxiety eliminates their undesirable effects on the second-language acquisition. The authors conclude that positive and negative emotions should not be considered as opposites, but as two different experiences with different effects on language learning.
