PROBLEMS OF ORGANIZING EFFECTIVE FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING AT A NON-LANGUAGE UNIVERSITY

This article examines the challenges of organizing foreign language teaching at a non-language university. Particular attention is paid to the problems and factors influencing learning effectiveness. Foreign language proficiency is one of the basic requirements for university graduates by potential employers. It is also one of the major problems facing the domestic higher education system at non-language universities. Gaps in educational programs, heavy paperwork burdens for faculty, low student motivation for foreign language learning, and academic dishonesty ultimately lead to low proficiency and low competitiveness in the labor market for graduates of domestic universities. The controversial experience of introducing distance learning has highlighted new problems, and the development of the internet has brought the phenomenon of academic dishonesty to a new level. This article examines only a few of the issues in the organization of the educational process that significantly impact the effectiveness of Russian students' acquisition of language competencies. The author substantiates the need to reform the domestic model of organizing foreign language instruction. The presented material allows us to conclude that reforming the organizational model of foreign language instruction is essential.
