This article, which continues the authors' series on the history of the development of regional educational systems in the Russian Federation, examines the main trends in the development of the higher law school of the Republic of Bashkortostan from 1985 to 2000. The research findings contextualize the stages of the modernization process of the higher law school. Particular attention is given to the new challenges and problems faced by the regional higher law school, as well as to the measures taken during this period as part of state policy aimed at overcoming the crisis in the professional education system, including the training of legal professionals.
A range of controversial issues regarding the results of the modernization of the higher law school of the Republic of Bashkortostan during the study period is identified.
