MASS SCHOOLS IN MOSCOW DURING THE PERIOD OF ECONOMIC RECOVERY IN 1945-1958, ACCORDING TO DOCUMENTS FROM THE ARCHIVE OF THE MOSCOW CITY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION

The article examines the issues of the restoration and subsequent development of the Moscow school education system under the leadership of the Moscow City Department of Education in the post-war period. Based on the analysis of archival documents, the authors show the decision-making mechanisms in the party-sectoral system of Moscow, and trace the effective ways of maintaining and developing the level of professional training of teachers in the capital, as well as the methods of controlling the educational process in the capital's schools. The research methodology is based on a positivist approach and the hermeneutic analysis of unpublished historical sources, as well as the principle of historicism. The article employs historical-genetic and historical-system research methods. The main results are the identification of ways to solve the pressing problems of the post-war period in the field of education, as well as the major achievements and results of the capital's educational policy from 1945 to 1958 regarding mass schools, based on internal criticism of a wide range of archival materials.
